Introducing: Lydia! {newborn photography}

My sweet niece turned 4 months old a few days ago and I got to visit her and hold her again for the first time since shortly after she was born.  I hate living so far from my dear friends and family, but it certainly makes the time we get together precious.  Here are a few of my favorites from our afternoon session…

When I arrived, she was snoozin, but she quickly woke up and her big eyes in this photo make me smile!

At the end of her session, I got to hold her and snuggle her.  She fell asleep in my arms after a long day of playing and lots of outfit changes.  She did great!  Auntie Jenny loves you, Lydia!  I’m looking forward to watching you grow up into a beautiful woman.  And I can’t wait to geek out and take photos of you along the way!

Holiday Bokeh [Challenge] via Allyson Wonderland Photography

Allyson is both a friend and a fellow photographer. I’m excited to participate (on the very last day of the month) in her photo challenge for this month.Picture2

I snapped a few photos of our tree tonight.  Bokeh is one of my favorite photography effects.  I always love some bokeh.

Brandon & Jadie are such a sweet couple and I was so honored to photograph Brandon & Jadie’s wedding reception in a beautiful small town park with a big gazebo.  Their family and friends were there to celebrate with them and enjoy some refreshments and Frisbee.  The lovebirds had a small ceremony and took off to Italy for their honeymoon earlier in the summer, which is totally the way to go, in my opinion, if you don’t want to fuss with all the details of a big ceremony and reception.

Brandon & Jadie, thanks for trusting me to document your special day!

La Belle Estelle… what does it mean?

Let me tell you something… it is hard to find a unique name for a photography business that 1) is available 2) I love.  The “Pros” say to just use your name, but I didn’t really want to do that.  And so I finally settled on La Belle Estelle.  My husband is Italian and the rough/ literal translation of “La Belle Estelle” is “The Beautiful Star.”  I love stars and like to think my photography is beautiful.  But I’m a little biased.

So that’s the explanation of my new name!  All of the names I had floating in my head for years were already taken.

I hope you like it!

A friend suggested naming this “Super Awesome Pictures Forever” and that definitely made me smile.  Maybe I’ll keep that in my back pocket in case La Belle Estelle falls through.

I’m going to share some posts of my current portfolio, along with some tips I’ve learned along the way.

Thanks for reading!
