Inspiration :: Coke in the Car Wash

images.duckduckgo.com1I saw this commercial the other day when I was catching up on my DVR and working on some photos.  I love going through the car wash!!  I don’t get to go very often, but I love it. Sometimes I’ll go on my lunch break or listen to so music while I go through… It’s very cathartic for me.  I love how this commercial was put together and how it speaks to the smallest most mundane parts of our life being capable of being the most interesting and fun.  What is a small/mundane thing in life that brings you joy?

Inspiration :: Pizza in the Wild

This series is pizza.  And by pizza, I mean perfect.

JonPaul Douglass is the photographer behind this project.  As a lover of both photography and pizza, I find this very inspiring.  A reminder to stay creative.  And hungry.

Inspiration :: The Difference :: Annie Leibovitz

When a news story is released, words can only go so far.

Having someone like Annie Leibovitz photographing this story just makes sense.  And this picture will become iconic.  A mark of our country taking a large step toward embracing those that have struggled to step out into the sun and say, “This is me.  This is who I am.” a b

Annie Leibovitz has a style that is bold and often dream-like.  Her black and white portraits are captivating.  Her work is definitely inspirational.  And that’s why I say it makes sense for her to be the photographer to help announce the arrival of Caitlyn Jenner. 6As an aside, I love her response when asked what camera she recommends nowadays… the iPhone.  Go figure.  But the saying is true… the best camera is the one you have with you!

I had the opportunity to visit the Jim Brandenburg Gallery recently and I was blown away by the sheer talent of this local photographer.

This is definitely a new favorite for me. “Secret Bay.”  LOVE it!

Check out Jim Brandenburg for some inspiration!  His Chased By the Light series is incredible… for 90 days he only allowed himself one exposure per day. One chance to get “the shot.”  I love that.  Especially in the digital photography era.

Ansel Adams

Yesterday I shared about some of my favorite photographers and photos.  Ansel Adams gets his own post today. I have always been so inspired by his black & white photography.  Someone once gave me a coffee table book of his photography.  I love that book.  The contrast. The stillness and peace I feel when I look at his images…

Do you have a favorite Ansel Adams print?

Photos that Inspire

I’ve always had an interest in photography.  Even when I was younger, with my disposable Kodak cameras taking pictures of inanimate objects and nature, my parents scolded me for wasting film on photos without people in them.  In high school, I took Photography I & II and learned a lot through the black and white film process.  I have a sweet spot in my heart for black and white photography.  We studied photographers and photos and these are 3 of my favorite photos that still stick with me today:

This article about the girl in the photo is fascinating.

“A photograph is a secret about a secret. The more it tells you the less you know.” –Diane Arbus

I love that quote.

Who are some of your favorite photographers?  What are some of your favorite images?  Do you prefer color or black and white?
